Now I have a reason to wake up in the morning
The Art House in Decatur, Georgia has sent out a ton of moleskin sketchbooks to artists far and wide. The idea is that the artists fill them with drawings, writings, ruminations on the chosen theme and send them back. The finished sketchbooks will all be displayed together at the aforementioned gallery in mid-October. Derya, Alix and I are participating.
The theme: Fear– a topic I know a little something about. Airplanes, ghosts, deskjobs…I’ve got ‘em all.
But if you know me, or if you’ve been reading the blog, you should know that there is no fear as near and dear to my heart as global warming and the impending environmental collapse. Hence, the topic of my sketchbook.
I have decided to combine my love of anagrams with my love of fearing the apocalypse for this project, turning catch phrases and talking points that instill the utmost terror in my heart: carbon emissions, volcanic winters, melting glaciers, and the like into something a little more manageable. I plan to do some solvent transfers overlaying the anagrams based on the phrases they become.
Here is the cover of my sketchbook, as of right now:
…thereby turning the Apocalypse into a Greek festivity (Yes! Clap! Opa!) or what could be a foam party or a bubble bath (Soapy Place). It would be nice if the Apocalypse could be that way.

I love you soooo much. Sorry I am such a jerk and I haven’t called. I am in the middle of moving and printing . . . more on that later. Suffice to say, you are a genius and I worship you and your soapy man’s ass like a holly Greek idol! There is so much more to tell you and that I want to hear. Soon. Soon.
